Bdale Garbee - HP / DebianA Gentle Introduction to Software Defined RadioThe fundamental idea behind Software Defined Radio (SDR) is to replace as much of the dedicated analog electronics in radios and related communications systems with computer software as possible. This can both make existing communication systems more flexible, and enable entirely new applications. This talk will cover elements of technical and political background important for understanding SDR, then will introduce the GNU Radio project, which is a platform for developing open source SDR projects. |
